A report on defects found and customer informed of additional repair work required and the cost thereof on your vehicle

As a replacement for brake pads discs replacement, we can replace your brakes at a fraction of the cost when compared to your dealership’s workshop! The brake pads, discs, drums, linings and master cylinder – indeed the whole brake system – are probably the most important part of your vehicle.

Whether you’re shopping for OEM brakes, towing or street performance, Superior Car Clinic can obtain the brake parts you need to stop. Our huge selection of aftermarket brake parts will perform better than stock and often cost less than the OEM replacements at your local dealership.

Superior Car Clinic is there to save you money and therefore, we tend to skim brake discs rather than replace them. This is done on the car to the specifications of the car and provides a new and flat surface for your new brake pads.

Brake Warning Signs
You know you need brakes repaired when:

  1. The brake dashboard light glows amber, indicating problems with the anti-lock brake system (ABS)
  2. The brake dashboard light is red, indicating a system imbalance
  3. The brake pedal is spongy, or slow to respond
  4. You hear grinding or constant squealing during braking

Any time you notice these, or other symptoms, it’s a good idea to have your brakes checked. At Superior Car Clinic, if our inspection reveals you do need brake repairs, we will explain exactly what’s required. Brake pads must be replaced when the pad friction material thickness has worn down to 2mm or when the pad exhibits uneven wear.

Typical signs would be shuddering, shaking and grinding of the pads. Brake pads must always be replaced simultaneously on all callipers on one axle; otherwise there is a risk that the vehicle will show uneven braking behaviour. It is important to use only disc brake pads which are matched to the vehicle. Brake discs need to be replaced when the brake disc has worn down to the minimum brake disc thickness, or when the brake disc has been subjected to uneven wear patterns including warping, scoring and cracking.

A clutch is a mechanical device that engages and disengages the power transmission. Clutches are used whenever the transmission of power or motion must be controlled.

At Superior Car Clinic, we replace clutches, consisting of a clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing. These are replaced with LUK, SACS or VALEO clutches.

We also do the replacing or re-sleeving of clutch master cylinders to ensure that your clutch is in optimal working condition.

Should any of the above parts fail you WILL NOT be able to drive the car, or if you manage to get going, the likelihood of damaging the entire gearbox is a huge possibility.

Engine light on? Air bag light on? Brake Light on? etc.

Don’t be fooled by faulty sensor codes — these problems all have underlying issues that need to be solved, or they will only happen over and over again! True Transmission Diagnostics and testing will determine your problem and the solution for your repair.

Our complete Diagnosis involves a special computer system scan, vehicle testing and more.

Let us determine the problem with your Vehicle!
At Superior Car Clinic all diagnostics are free with repair.

Kindly, please note: We only offer replacements of radiators, no repair!

Your vehicle’s radiator is broken and do you require a replacement?

To cool down the engine, a coolant is passed through the engine block, where it absorbs heat from the engine. The hot coolant is then fed into the radiator and distributed across the radiator core. As the coolant circulates through the radiator it cools down. The cold coolant is fed back to the engine, and the cycle repeats.

This coolant is usually water-based, with the addition of glycols to prevent freezing and other additives to limit corrosion. This is one of the most important items in the motor. Without the motor being kept cool, it would overheat, causing enormous damage to the motor.

Here, at Superior Car Clinic, we pressure test radiators and the adjacent fitting pipes and replace any item that needs to be replaced, so as to ensure that the coolant is circulating properly.

Call Superior Car Clinic for a free quotation for a radiator replacement. We make sure that your engine gets the adequate cooling it requires.

We have the facilities to remove and replace CV joints.

Constant Velocity Joint or CV joints are attached to each end of a drive shaft.

The CV joints are needed to transfer the torque at a constant speed to the steering wheels, as well as to accommodate up and down motions of the suspension. You will find CV joints in all front-wheel drive cars. Many rear and four-wheel drive cars have CV joints, as well. The CV joint is packed with grease and protected by rubber or plastic boots. It does not require any maintenance and is supposed to last, provided that the protective boot is not damaged.

There are two most commonly used types of CV joints:

  • Ball-type
  • Tripod-type

Different variations of ball-type CV joints are commonly used on the outer side of the drive shaft, while tripod-type CV joints mostly used on the inner side. The most common problem with the CV joints is when the protective boot gets damaged. Once this happens, the grease comes out and the moisture and dirt is allowed in, eventually causing the CV joint to fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion.

If a damaged boot is diagnosed early, simply replacing the CV joint boot and repacking the CV joint with fresh grease may rectify the problem. If you continue driving with a broken boot, the CV joint or a whole drive shaft will need to be replaced. In worst case scenario, the CV joint may disjoin, causing the vehicle to stop running. A clicking or popping noise when turning, are the major indications of CV joint problems.

Your shock absorbers are not normally checked when your vehicle is serviced. Did you know, that if your car has done more than 60 000 km’s, your shocks are most likely worn out, but because most people never check them, they never know about this. We at Superior Car Clinic will check the shocks and inspect them for any damage.

Consider this, if you are driving a car that’s a few years old, it’s possible, even likely, that your shocks have never been checked. That’s a risk. When you need to suddenly brake or swerve, you may find that your car no longer handles, as it should and you could be the cause of an accident. If you are involved in a collision, you may even face the risk of your insurance being revoked (since your insurer requires that your vehicle is properly maintained).

A basic shock test and inspection takes a few minutes. Come and see us and make sure that you aren’t putting yourself and your family at risk. We can replace these and ensure that your car is kept roadworthy and safe.
